Kumari Kandam is a mythical continent like Atlantis, that was lost many years ago. It is located in the Indian Ocean. It came into existence because of a ruler named Paratan. He had a large kingdom that he divided into nine different parts. His daughter, Kumari, ruled the part of it that has become known as Kumari Kandam.

The continent once thrived, and it was a place where new languages and civilizations were formed. It was thought to be a hub of activity and it connected Australia, Madagascar, South India and Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, this all came to an end. Kumari Kandam was submerged around 14,500 years ago because of rising sea levels. This was in part due to the ice age ending. The occupants of this land were believed to have relocated before this happened.

Lemuria?

Kumari Kandam and the continent of Lemuria are often referred to as the same mythical continent. This is because they both have quite a few similarities. They are both thought to have connected large landmasses to one another and they both had a similar fate of being submerged by water. However, Lemuria was lost because of volcanic activity that resulted in the rising of waters that caused the continent to disappear.

Kumari Kandam was first mentioned in the Hindu religious text, Skanda Puranam, back in the 15th century. There is a lot of debate as to whether or not it actually existed, but there is some evidence of it. A 1.7 million year old bridge was discovered in the Palk Strait, which is located in the Indian Ocean where this lost continent is believed to have existed.
